Advancing Global Standards in Breast Cancer Care

Over three inspiring days, MIMOSA × SBMC 2026 brought together breast cancer care professionals from Singapore and around the world to exchange ideas, develop new skills and explore the evolving landscape of breast surgery, breast imaging and multidisciplinary breast cancer care.

This year’s conference marked a new chapter for the Singapore Breast Multidisciplinary Conference (SBMC), which partnered with the Minimally Invasive, Minimal Access Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Singapore (MIMOSA) for the first time. Building on strong multidisciplinary foundations established through previous collaborations with the International Academy of Pathology Singapore Division (SG-IAP), the partnership with MIMOSA expanded the programme’s reach and placed a greater focus on minimally invasive, robotic and oncoplastic approaches to breast surgery.

By connecting MIMOSA’s regional network of breast surgeons and innovators with SBMC’s established multidisciplinary platform, the conference created new opportunities for international collaboration, knowledge exchange and hands-on learning.

Held under the theme "Advancing Global Standards in Breast Cancer Care", the meeting welcomed approximately 200 participants, 35 faculty members, 21 sponsors and exhibitors, and representatives from 9 countries and territories, Together, they brought diverse expertise and perspectives to a shared goal: improving outcomes for patients through better breast cancer care. 

More than a scientific meeting, MIMOSA × SBMC 2026 was a platform for exchanging ideas, challenging conventional thinking and exploring how advances in breast cancer care can be translated into meaningful improvements in everyday clinical practice.

Bringing Knowledge to Life

A defining feature of MIMOSA × SBMC 2026 was its commitment to learning beyond traditional lectures.

The programme combined expert-led talks with masterclasses, hands-on workshops, simulator training, cadaveric surgical labs, ultrasound-guided intervention sessions and multidisciplinary case discussions. Participants had the opportunity not only to learn from leading experts, but also to translate knowledge into practice through hands-on training, real-world case discussions and interactive workshops.

Topics spanned the full continuum of care, including minimally invasive and robotic breast surgery, oncoplastic techniques, breast reconstruction, imaging, pathology, oncology, localisation technologies and image-guided interventions.

By bringing together different specialties and perspectives, the meeting reflected the multidisciplinary approach that underpins modern breast cancer care.

Key Highlights from MIMOSA x SBMC 2026

The meeting opened with discussions on the evolution of minimally invasive and robotic breast surgery, examining emerging evidence, technical considerations and the future direction of these approaches.

Participants also explored advances in reconstruction and oncoplastic surgery, alongside practical sessions focused on image-guided breast interventions such as biopsy techniques, localisation procedures, vacuum-assisted procedures and cryoablation.

A major focus of the meeting was hands-on skills development. Through simulator and cadaveric training workshops, participants worked alongside experienced faculty to refine techniques, deepen their understanding of surgical planning and explore new approaches within a structured learning environment.

The final day broadened the conversation beyond individual procedures to multidisciplinary decision-making, bringing together surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and oncologists to tackle challenging clinical scenarios and evolving treatment strategies.

A particular highlight was the MIMOSA Synergy Beyond Borders Panel, which explored mentorship, international collaboration and the future of breast surgery. The programme concluded with discussions surrounding the MIMOSA × SBMC International Consensus on Minimally Invasive Breast Surgery, underscoring the meeting's commitment to advancing standards through collective expertise and shared experience.

Building Connections Across Borders

While scientific content is central to every meeting, some of the most meaningful outcomes emerge from the conversations that happen between sessions.

Throughout MIMOSA × SBMC 2026, participants connected with colleagues from different specialties, institutions and healthcare systems. Ideas were exchanged, perspectives challenged and experiences shared across geographical and disciplinary boundaries.

These interactions reflect one of the meeting’s central aims: bringing together clinicians from different specialities, institutions and healthcare systems to share experiences, broaden perspectives and build lasting professional connections.

As co-organisers of Singapore Breast Multidisciplinary Conference (SBMC), Solis Breast Care & Surgery Centre and Luma Women's Imaging Centre remain committed to creating educational platforms that foster collaboration, innovation and excellence in breast health.

MIMOSA × SBMC 2026 demonstrated how advances in breast cancer care can be accelerated when expertise, innovation and practical experience are shared across disciplines and borders.
